From Khmelnytskyi to Chicago: how we found the roots of an emigrant in 1906

We were contacted by a client from the USA who only knew his grandfather's last name — Pavlyuk — and a village somewhere in the Podolsk province. We identified the exact place — the village of Sutkivtsi, year of birth 1895. We found birth records, documents about leaving through the port of Hamburg, as well as a photo of the house where his ancestor was born. The client's family visited Ukraine for the first time and visited the graves of their ancestors.

Stephen Pavliuk, Chicago (USA)

“I knew almost nothing about my grandfather, except his last name and the fact that he was from Ukraine. Thanks to the research of the FamilyTree.in.ua team, I not only learned his exact birthplace, but also visited the village where he grew up. It was an emotional moment to stand by the house he left behind over 100 years ago. Priceless.”

Confirmation of Polish origin for the "Poles card"«

A client from Kyiv wanted to apply for a Pole's Card, but he didn't have any documents. We conducted an archival search and found that his great-grandfather was born in 1883 in the Łódź province, was a Roman Catholic, and had Polish citizenship. A package of documents was prepared for submission, and three months later the client received a Pole's Card.

Natalia Melnyk, Kyiv

“I had already lost hope of getting a Pole Card due to a lack of documents. But thanks to the careful work of the company's specialists, I was able to find confirmation of my great-grandfather's Polish origin. Everything was prepared quickly and professionally — I received a Pole Card without any complications. I am sincerely grateful!”

Restoring family memory lost through the Holodomor

A family from Poltava region had scattered memories of relatives who disappeared in the 1930s. We examined birth records, lists of the repressed, and documents from the Central State Archives of the Ukrainian SSR. We found traces of two brothers who were deported to Kazakhstan, as well as the existence of another family line that emigrated to Canada. The result is a 70-page family book and a reunited family that met again.

Oleksandr Hrytsay, Poltava region.

“My family lost touch with part of the family due to repression and the Holodomor. The FamilyTree.in.ua team conducted in-depth research, found relatives in Kazakhstan and Canada, and also restored events we never knew about. Now we have not only a complete family tree, but also a book that we will pass on to our children and grandchildren.”

A family story that comes to life

Our research — is not just a list of dates and names. We recreate the history of your family through events, archival records, documents, places of residence and real facts from the lives of ancestors. Each line of the family tree is transformed into a clear and logical story that allows you to see the path of the family through generations and historical eras.

We work with different sources, verify information and combine it into a single system, where each fact has confirmation and its place in the overall picture. This allows us to obtain a result that is not just informative, but also gives a deep understanding of the origin of the family and the connections between generations. Special attention is paid to details: variants of spelling of surnames, changes in administrative boundaries, features of archives of different countries and periods. It is these nuances that often determine whether the result will be accurate and complete.

As a result you get not a collection of disparate data, but a coherent story—structured, verified, and understandable. This is material that can not only be preserved but also passed on as part of a family heirloom.

If you want to get results that have real value — without assumptions and wasting time on your own research — it’s important to structure your research correctly from the very beginning. We’ll help you determine the direction, assess your search options, and explain where to start in your specific situation.
